Frequently asked questions
Answers about diagnostics, repairs, parts, warranty and data safety.
Do I need to book an appointment before visiting?+
No, but calling the service centre in advance can make the repair process more efficient. It allows me to discuss the fault and check whether the required parts are available.
How long does phone diagnostics take?+
The time depends on the type of fault. Common problems can often be identified quickly, while complex motherboard faults may require detailed measurements and longer observation. I will advise you of the expected diagnostic time after accepting the phone.
Is diagnostics charged?+
The diagnostic fee is PLN 100 if the customer decides not to proceed with the proposed repair. If the repair is accepted, I explain the settlement terms together with the full cost.
Will I know the cost before the repair begins?+
Yes. I never begin a repair until the customer knows and accepts the full cost of the service.
What should I bring with the phone?+
Usually the phone itself is enough. For charging problems, please also bring the charger and cable you use. Information about the symptoms, how the fault occurred and previous repairs is also helpful.
Can the repair be completed on the same day?+
Under favourable circumstances, yes. This is especially possible when the fault is typical, the required part is in stock and no additional diagnostics are needed. I confirm the expected completion time after checking the phone.
Will the data stored on the phone be preserved?+
In most repairs, the data remains untouched. However, I cannot guarantee this in every case, particularly with serious memory or motherboard damage, liquid damage, or when the software must be restored.
Should I make a backup before handing in the phone?+
If the phone still works, I strongly recommend backing up important photos, contacts and documents. This is sensible protection before any service work, even when the planned repair should not affect the data.
Is the phone unlock code needed for diagnostics?+
It depends on the fault. The code may be needed to fully test the display, cameras, microphones, speakers, charging and other functions. If you prefer not to provide it, we will agree which tests can be completed without unlocking the phone.
What type of parts are used for repairs?+
I always try to repair phones using genuine replacement parts. If they are unavailable, I can offer a suitably selected compatible replacement. Before the repair, I explain the type, quality and price of the part.
Is the repair covered by a warranty?+
Yes. I provide a 6-month warranty for completed repairs. However, I do not provide a warranty under any circumstances for repairs to liquid-damaged phones.
Is the phone thoroughly tested after repair?+
Yes. After the repair, I check the phone and the functions related to the service performed. The scope of testing depends on the fault and whether the device can be fully started.
Will the phone still be water-resistant after opening?+
When the design allows it, I install a new seal during reassembly. However, I cannot guarantee factory-level water resistance after the phone has been opened. Age, housing condition, previous repairs and deformation also affect sealing, so the phone should still be protected from liquids.
When should the battery be replaced?+
Consider replacement when the phone discharges quickly, switches off despite showing remaining charge, runs noticeably shorter or reports poor battery health. Battery swelling or a lifting display or rear cover also requires prompt attention.
Will battery health be displayed after replacement?+
This depends on the phone model, the installed part and the available configuration procedure. On supported models, with a genuine battery and correct configuration, the phone may correctly show battery health and part status. I explain the details before repair.
Can a system message appear after replacing a part?+
Yes. Some models may display a message concerning a replaced battery, screen, camera or another component. This depends on the manufacturer, model, type of part and configuration options. I explain this possibility before the repair.
Why does the phone battery discharge quickly?+
A worn battery is not always the cause. Background apps, poor signal, a damaged electronic circuit, a motherboard short, a faulty module or a software error can also increase power consumption. Proper diagnostics should therefore come before battery replacement.
What can cause charging problems?+
Possible causes include a dirty or damaged connector, faulty cable or charger, worn battery, damaged connection flex or a motherboard charging-circuit fault. The exact cause can be determined only after testing and measurements.
Should I bring my charger and cable to the service centre?+
Yes. If the issue concerns charging, bringing the charger and cable you normally use can greatly help diagnostics and show whether the cause is the phone or its accessories.
What should I do immediately after the phone gets wet?+
Switch the phone off as soon as possible, disconnect all cables and do not try to turn it on again. Remove the SIM card if the design allows it and bring the phone to the service centre promptly, because corrosion can progress even when the device initially works.
Why should a wet phone not be connected to a charger?+
Applying power to a wet phone may cause a short circuit, accelerate corrosion and damage motherboard components. This can substantially increase the repair cost and reduce the chances of recovering data.
Can an IP68-rated phone still suffer liquid damage?+
Yes. The rating does not mean permanent or complete waterproofing. Tests are performed under specific laboratory conditions, seals age over time, and resistance can be reduced by a drop, housing deformation, previous repair, pressurised water, salt water or detergents.
Can a phone that will not turn on be repaired?+
In many cases, yes. The cause may be the battery, charging circuit, damaged screen, a short circuit or a motherboard fault. Diagnostics are needed to assess the damage, repair cost and chance of restoring operation.
Do you repair motherboards and perform microsoldering?+
Yes. I diagnose and repair motherboards, including replacing integrated circuits, repairing damaged connections and other work requiring microsoldering and precise measurements.
Can data be recovered from a damaged phone?+
In many cases this is possible, depending on the type of damage and the condition of the motherboard and memory. I first diagnose the device and assess whether it can be started or repaired sufficiently to access the data.
